Lineys working in Perth

Postby outthereanddoingit » Mon Feb 23, 2009 3:06 pm

Just a short speel for those interested in working in Perth. Firstly steer clear of Tenix as they are in the process of a middle order collapse after a week stand down by the network owner for various reasons. Without getting into it they couple of kiwis who have just started there are scratching their heads wondering what the hell is going on. Western Power the network owner or even Theiss are a much better organised pair of companies with plenty of network expeience and depends on if you are keen to work faults or not as to who you go with. Western Power has a full relocation package and check their website out- google westernpower.com.au Its a long way to come to be stuck on a sinking ship.lol. But its a good network to work on as the government has released 6 Billion$ to upgrade and maintain the network so secure work for a very long time. :D

Who is the better one to go with for fault work for a bit of O/T?
Which do you work for, and are the guys you work with a good bunch?

Cheers,
Dave

gidday mate, I work for Western Power and have found them to be a bloody good bunch of guys. They are the only ones doing faults on their own network but will call in other contractors if need be. Plenty of overtime in all areas but here we are only overhead lineys unless you do a cable jointing trade and have it recognised. The only drama of working in WA is having to do a gap analysis of skills cause they have a ticket for nearly every bloody task you can think of including stropping up a pole( dogging ticket) but they pay for your training and its only political bullshit not anything majorly different.
